Tips: Why is the worm gearbox easy to wear?
Worm gearbox generally uses non-ferrous metal tin bronze as the worm wheel and harder steel as the worm, which can improve efficiency, but it is easy to wear during operation. Wear is caused by mechanical assembly, and it may also be caused by improper use of lubricants. KOLAUT summed up the following experience for your reference:
- Due to the particularity of the worm gearbox structure of the worm gearbox reducer, the rotation direction of the worm gear is at right angles to the rotation direction of the worm gear that transmits the power. When the two tooth surfaces are in meshing contact, they are almost completely caused by sliding contact. This kind of high sliding contact requires the contact surface to be highly matched. If the assembly is improperly or the accessories are not matched, it is easy to increase the friction of the contact surface, which will cause rapid wear.
- Worm gearbox speed reducer is used to drive small helical gears. When installed vertically, it is easy to cause insufficient lubricating oil. When the worm gearbox reducer stops running, the transmission gear oil between the motor and the reducer is lost, and the gears cannot get the proper lubrication protection. When starting, the gears are not effectively lubricated, causing wear and even damage to the worm gearbox reducer.
- The material of the worm gearbox and the bearing of the worm gearbox reducer is easy to wear.
- When the worm gearbox is maintained and managed, the lubricant needs to be replaced if the lubricant is not selected properly.
